PhD top-up scholarship on high-impact project funded by the Fijian government in collaboration with New Zealand Aid. The PhD researcher will have an opportunity to work with the collaborators in Fiji multiple times in course of the PhD.

Project Goal:

The project aims to provide a monitoring and management strategy for sediments in ungauged rivers across the world (with a focus on Fiji). Such sediments, if left untreated, lead to serious health complications over time if the water is used as drinking water in communities. The project aims to expand on an innovative research product that uses satellite remote sensing as the basis for developing the modelling/monitoring tools.

Who we are looking for:

Students need to be comfortable with handling large datasets and developing the basis for modelling sediment concentrations in ungauged catchments accounting for all the uncertainties present. Domestic applications will be eligible for a significant PhD top-up.
