Art & cultural vibrancy

Cultivating creativity: Empowering UNSW's artistic visionaries.

Students work on projects in an art and design workshop environment

The creativity and critical thinking of our artists help us make sense of change in a time of unprecedented challenge.

At UNSW, we want to ensure that the creative sector continues to flourish, that we remain culturally ambitious as a nation, and that our artists and designers are given the support they need to sustain long and rewarding careers.

Your donation to art and cultural vibrancy at UNSW will go towards the development of studios and performance spaces, as well as programs that give our students more opportunities to learn and practice their skills.

It will also help us to ensure that equity, diversity and inclusion are protected and prioritised, and that we actively champion the voices of our First Nations people.Ìý

Founded in 1980, the Australia Ensemble is widely recognised as this country's finest chamber music ensemble. It features seven of Australia's leading instrumentalists. Together with guest artists, they perform the standard chamber music repertoire as well as an unusual and varied range of lesser-known works. In addition to their annual subscription season, the Ensemble presents a free concert and workshop series at UNSW. They also make special appearances at venues across Australia and around the world.

The Australia Ensemble gratefully acknowledges the past and present support of the Music Board of the Australia Council, the New South Wales Ministry for the Arts, and The University of New South Wales U Committee, as well as generous donations from individual subscribers and donors.

The principles and practice of public leadership deserve analysis. One way we can gain insight into the challenges of governance is to explore the historical archives of our political leaders.

The Howard Library is the archive of Prime Minister John Howard. Located on the UNSW Canberra campus, it houses more than 10,000 items of political memorabilia, photographs and documents from the Prime Minister's long political career.

With support from the philanthropic community, UNSW will continue to expand the Howard Library, building it into a nationally significant record of Australia’s modern political history.

UNSW Galleries showcases the work of leading Australian and international practitioners of contemporary art and design.

The Galleries hosts a diverse range of exhibitions and public programs throughout the year. The three principal exhibition spaces provide a platform for fresh perspectives on contemporary visual and material culture.

Your investment in UNSW Galleries will fund the commission of major new works from both emerging and established artists and designers. It will also help cover the costs of touring, publishing and programming, so that we can share those works with the widest possible audience.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming embedded in our lives at an increasingly rapid rate. There are ethical concerns about how AI is being implemented, but it also has the potential to deliver social benefits among our most vulnerable communities.

UNSW Art & Design’s Creative Robotics Lab is a multidisciplinary environment dedicated to the development of social robotics. Our work is focussed on promoting human health and dignity and providing pathways out of social isolation.

Your support will help us develop AI robotics systems that ease suffering for people with dementia, and support children with autism.
