UNSW Engineering students led by Dr. Anna Bruce from her courseÌýEnergy for Developing CountriesÌýÌýdesigned and installed a solar powered deep freezer in a remote village on Viwa Island, off the coast of Fiji.
The freezer assists the community to trade fish they catch to trade on the mainland and financially support themselves. The goal of the project was not just to provide renewable energy, but ensure their technical solution could be maintained by the community.
