Chris Kelly
Chris commenced his PhD candidature with the Faculty of Law, UNSW in 2020. Chris’ thesis explores aspects of the transition to sustainable shipping in the Pacific, with a focus on the regulatory framework applying to shipping and the financing of shipping in Fiji. Admitted as a lawyer in the UK in 1994 and in NSW in 1997, Chris' work as a lawyer has been mainly concerned with large project financed infrastructure projects, including as a partner at large firms in the UK and Australia, and as General Counsel for the operating entities of public-private partnerships.
Areas of research
Law and policy of sustainable shipping and sustainable shipping finance, international environmental law, international law and regional ocean governance, law of the sea, laws of the Pacific Island Countries.
