Artist statement

'Fouls of the beach' (2022) is a site-responsive installation that reconfigures waste materials collected from the shoreline in Northern NSW following hazardous weather and king tides. Formed through a practice of re-assemblage, the work comprises materials synonymous with this coastal landscape: marine plastics, pumice, and fishing rope, and seeks a rumination on the porous boundaries of matter within the beach ecology, where seemingly disparate materials and phenomena are brought into relation by the presence of water.
