Lucy Parkinson, ‘my body, day to day’ 2023. oil pastel and oil paint on card paper, 153 x 126cm. Image courtesy: the artist.

My work consists of 6 oil pastel and paint pieces depicting my body in an intuitive style as I go through my everyday social and domestic life. Each piece focuses on the specific internal and bodily feelings evoked in a set moment, inspired by fleeting thoughts, phrases and ideas that pass through my mind upon reflection on the event in question. I wanted to use this process to reclaim power over my experiences and to learn to trust my understanding of how I feel.

Each individual piece has its own title as well: “Attention Seeking”, “5 Star Customer Service”, “Unpaid Babysitter”, “Foreign Body”, “Fix Me” and “Down the Drain”. (These correspond to the order they are in in the image from left to right top row and then bottom row). If its possible to include those details too that would be good!
