Here's how Shreya Gramle's passion for business took her on a journey fromÌýBangalore, India, to UNSW’s Business School, all the way into a Commonwealth Government placement in Australia’s Capital Territory.

“UNSW’s Master of Commerce program has been an excellent fit, allowing me to explore my passions and broadening my understanding of the business world as a whole.â€

UNSW’s Master of Commerce is designed in consultation with industry professionals to prepare students with career focused experience. The degree is delivered by the UNSW Business School (ranked number 1 out of 40 business schools in Australia). Graduates of the UNSW Business School have been voted amongst the 2020-2023 by the AFR Top100 Future Leader Awards.Ìý

Designed with flexibility in mind, Master of Commerce students can choose from 14 specialisations including FinTech, cyber security and global sustainability and social impact. For Shreya it was this flexibility, coupled with the university’s strong reputation, that led her to study at UNSW.Ìý

“UNSW has a strong focus on innovation and research. The university’s commitment to providing a well-rounded education, and its diverse, multicultural student community also appealed to me.â€

What began with online studies due to the global pandemic, transitioned toÌýon-campus learning in Shreya’s second year. While studying away from her home country of India had its challenges, Shreya built a network and circle of friends to support her in Australia.Ìý

“The university campus was always bustling with activity, from social gatherings to professional events. Opportunities to connect with peers and faculty helped me develop a strong sense of belonging within the university community.â€

Shreya took up other activities beyond the commerce classroom, such asÌýattending guest lectures, playing sport, and representing students on panel discussions during the Business School’s O-Week.

Ìý

Shreya also became an active member of one of UNSW’s 300 clubs and groups. There, Shreya took opportunities to connect and grow, engaging with a wide range of people, planning and hosting events, and developing leadership skills.

“Being a part of a student society was instrumental in shaping my personal and professional development."Ìý

"Starting as a subcommittee member, I was later elected as the Vice President of the Professional Development team. This allowed me to engage with the wider business school student community, as well as academic coordinators, professors, and the Career Accelerator team.â€

Students at UNSW Business School have access to Career Accelerator, a unique work experience, professional development and global business project program.

Ìý

Now that she’s graduated, Shreya values the critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and future-ready business practices she learnt during her UNSW Masters Degree.

“My biggest takeaway from the program has been the ability to think strategically and adapt to the ever-changing business landscape, which has been invaluable in my professional life.â€

In fact, as a result of her dedication and the valuable skills gained studying Commerce at UNSW’s Business School, Shreya has secured a place in theÌýÌýGraduate Program. She has now relocated to Canberra, Australia’s Capital Territory, to take on this exciting new opportunity.

Are you thinking about making the leap to study in Australia?Ìý

Shreya believes other international students have a lot to gain from choosing to study at UNSW.Ìý

“If there's a UNSW course that aligns with your interests and background, I highly recommend taking the leap of faith and enrolling. The university has a world-class reputation, a diverse student community, and a range of extracurricular activities to enhance your experience. Go for it, and take advantage of all that UNSW has to offer!â€
