Dr Grundy'sÌýresearch focus in in engineering education and current trends in industry. Her passion includes sustainable manufacturing and design from raw materials to process and product improvement and/or development.

After completing her PhD in Chemical Engineering from UNSW (2004), Dr GrundyÌýjoined a global building manufacturing company and became a Senior Technical Leader within the Research and Development division of the company. After 15 years in industry, Dr Grundy isÌýat UNSW as an Education Focussed academic, predominantly in Engineering design and capstone courses.

My passion is in two areas:
1. applied research (sustainable manufacturing practices) whileÌýmy expertise area is inÌýmaterials development, process improvement, process development and implementation.ÌýMy current research interests are in process optimisation and improvement in industry-linked projects. These projects include advanced material development with a focus onÌýnanoparticles and surface treatment,Ìýcharacterisation at laboratory, pilot scale levelÌýthrough toÌýindustrial scale-up.

2. engineering education with a focus on authentic learning practices including Project-Based Learning, Team-Based Learning, Work-Integrated Learning and Generative Artificial Intelligence.
