Chief Operating Officer, Australian Centre for Advanced Photovoltaics
Research interest
Level 1: SustainabiltyÌýassessment of differentÌýsolar cells, modules, end-of-life processes
Level 2: End-of-life management (including reverse logistics, reuse and recycling) of solar modules
Level 3:ÌýRemote renewable energy systems that can benefit the lives of people in remote islands of the Pacific Ocean
Interest in engineering
Why did you get into engineering?
I got into engineering to combine my desires for improving the world and natural environment with solving technical problems.
What are your research goals?
Participate and supportÌýdriving photovoltaics prices even lower and lives even longer than now, leading to realisation of expectations to wipe out fossil fuel and nuclear electricity.
Help the remote communities in remote Pacific islands to access sustainable and affordable energy services.
What do people not understand about what you do?
A few people choose to not understand that solar photovoltaic generated is remarkably cheap, ready and able to replace the fossil fuel economy that has supported our past and will destroy our future if we allow it to persist.
Advice for prospective School of Photovoltaic and Renewable Energy engineers
This is an exciting opportunity to marry a desire to work with technology and a desire to improve the environmental and social conditions for billions of people.Ìý
