PhD Scholarship Opportunity

Title: Metamaterial-Based Sensor for Structural Health Monitoring (SHM)

Project Overview:

Current sensing technologies for Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) face significant limitations, particularly in hard-to-reach or moving parts of structures. Challenges include the need for wired connections, in-situ power supplies, and restricted physical access.

This PhD project aims to revolutionize SHM systems by embedding self-sensing capabilities directly into structural components. Leveraging cutting-edge metamaterial design and additive manufacturing techniques, the project will develop smart, responsive materials capable of autonomously detecting and reporting structural integrity in real-time.

Position Details:

  • Duration: 3.5-year fixed-term appointment
  • Stipend: $37,684 per annum (tax-free)
  • Additional Benefits: Top-up scholarships may be available for eligible applicants. Additional financial support is offered through research and teaching assistant positions. Opportunities for funded travel to national and international conferences are also provided.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Graduated from a top-ranking university in your country, with a GPA of 85% or above, in Physics or Electrical Engineering.
