RESEARCH
RESEARCH CONTRIBUTION
Most significant contributions are in the design, discovery and development of amorphous alloys (bulk metallic glasses) and their associated processing, thermal and mechanical properties. Areas of research focus include design and development of Mg- and Al-based metallic glasses for structural and functional applications, amorphous alloy matrix composites, die-casting, strip casting and post production processing of bulk metallic glasses. Recognition of this research includes: 30+ papers in refereed international journals, ~$100k research and infrastructure funding since 2008 and have co-supervised 10 honours and 6 PhD students in the past 4 years.
TEACHING & OUTREACH
TEACHING CONTRIBUTIONS
Current course co-ordinator for Welding and Joining Processes, guest lecturer for polymer engineering and demonstrator for foundry casting, rolling and mechanical testing. Also contribute to honours and PhD student thesis supervision.
