Dr Karen Gibson is a Senior Lecturer in Physiology in the School of Biomedical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine and Health, UNSW.

Qualifications: MB BS, BMedSc, PhD, GCULT, UNSW

Education Focussed Academic.

Teaching: Phase 1 Convenor for BMed/MD program. Course convenor of PHSL3221 Endocrine, Reproductive and Developmental Physiology. I teach physiology to both��medical and��science students. My particular areas of expertise are renal physiology, respiratory physiology, fetal physiology, the ECG, and reproductive physiology.

Research Interests: Recent epidemiological evidence indicates that the quality of life in utero influences the development of adult disease eg hypertension, cardiovascular disease and diabetes. My research is concerned with renal development, cardiovascular development and the renin angiotensin system. I am particularly interested in the��interaction��between programming and lifestyle factors��in the development of hypertension and renal disease.
