Associate Professor Jia Lin Yang
Research Interests:
In our translational study of sarcoma, we have shown that combination therapy using molecular targeted approach and adjuvant therapy (radiotherapy or chemotherapy or cytokine) is a new and effective treatment modality for some epithelial cancers and sarcomas. Studies in depth in mechanism of action of the combination therapy using cancer cell lines will improve our understanding and may discover new targets for clinical trials and diagnostic markers for patient selection in clinics. In addition, following our successful gene profiling studies we are moving to investigate microRNA expression patterns, regulation and treatment potential in sarcoma. Moreover, identifying prognostic, biological and genetic marker for sarcoma progression is also a focus of our study. The research techniques range from basic molecular and cellular biology to clinical correlation studies in the above areas. All the above studies are supported by research grants and any interest in research in the above areas will be encouraged. Many peer-reviewed publications have arisen from these projects including original articles, review articles and editorials, and any participation would be expected to generate presentations and manuscripts. Most ILP students have gained at least one journal article during their study period, while other candidates have achieved more than this.
