Professor Jason Abbott
Qualifications: B Med (Hons) FRANZCOG FRCOG PhD
Dr Jason Abbott Professor of obstetrics and gynaecology at the University of New South Wales. He has published more than 200 peer-reviewed publications, has supervised more than 40 students through higher research degrees and garnered more than $20million in research funding. He is the co-Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynaecology, is the chair of theNational Endometriosis Clinical andScientificTrials (NECST) Network, Australia anddirects the GRACE research group and is a member of the Endometriosis advisory group to the Australian government. He has co-chaired the 2024 iteration of the Clinical Care Standards of Heavy Menstrual Bleeding for the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Healthcare. He is a member of the International Federation of Obstetrics and Gynecologists (FIGO) Menstrual health and disorders group. He is the co-President of the 2025 World Congress of Endometriosis in Sydney, Australia

Current research interests
Current research interests are in surgical gynaecology, with research projects on endometriosis, pelvic pain, pelvic floor muscle pain, menstrual disorders vaginal laser treatments and surgical teaching.
Teaching interests
Jason has supervised 24 ILP and honours students to date with ILP and honours students having first author publications and one with nine publications since their time under his supervision. Students have presented nationally and internationally with more than 15 awards achieved by students for their research work. Jason currently supervises ILP, honours, post-graduate trainees and PhD students.
