Associate Professor Jagnoor Jagnoor, Program Lead for Injury at The George Institute, Australia and Head of the Injury Division in India, co-directs the WHO Collaborating Centre for injury prevention and trauma care, holding an Emerging Leader 2 – NHMRC fellowship and specializing in injury epidemiology.
Her research focuses on investigating the impact of injuries, addressing equity and vulnerability in injury burden distribution, evaluating interventions to reduce this burden across Australia, Africa, and Asia, and contributing to injury prevention and post-injury recovery outcomes. She is involved in diverse LMIC projects involving injury surveillance, occupational injuries, road injuries, burns, falls, snakebites, and drowning. With a wide-ranging scope, her research encompasses injury prevention, rehabilitation, health-related quality of life, health systems and policy analysis, economic impact, and alternate insurance systems concerning injury, whiplash, and mild traumatic brain injury. Supported by her collaborators, she is driven to generate novel insights for tackling injury burden in low-middle income populations with competing health needs. Her research is focused on social and political determinants of injury prevention, and consistently translating her research into tangible impact via enhanced practitioner guidelines, government initiatives, and policies, all built upon sustained engagement with communities, consumers, government entities, and the scientific sphere.
