Dr. Fatemeh Karimi is a Vice Chancellor’s Research Fellow at the UNSW Graduate School of Biomedical Engineering (GSBmE) and Honorary Fellow at the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Melbourne. She received her B.Sc. in Chemistry (Ranked 1st) in 2010 and M.Sc. in polymer chemistry (Ranked 1st) in 2012 from the University of Tehran, Iran. Her master's degree focused on the investigation of the structure-property relationship of biohybrid coacervates under the supervision of Assistant Professor Nader Taheri-Qazvini.Then, She completedher Ph.D. atthe School of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Melbourne in 2018under the supervision of Dr. Daniel E. Heath, Professor Greg G. Qiao, and Professor Andrea J. O’Connor. Her Ph.D. research focused on the design of advanced biomaterials to promote endothelialization for vascular graft application. Next, she worked asa postdoctoral research fellow with Professor Greg Qiao in the Polymer Science Group, focusing on the ocular drug delivery and development of bioadhesives. Her research interests are in the area of polymer science, biomaterials, and tissue engineering with a particular focus on the polymer and biomaterial design, synthesis, biofunctionalization, characterization, and cell-material interactions for biomedical applications including cardiovascular disease, wound healing, tissue engineering, and tissue bioadhesives.
