I am a graduate of the University of Adelaide where I completed a PhD in French history. I came to UNSW, Canberra in 1988 and have taught a large number of courses in Modern, mainly European History.

My current research project examines different perspectives on the liberation of the camps in the final stages of the European war, 1945 and I continue to write on France and issues of national identity.
