Christine Linhart has worked in research andteachingin the School of Public Health and Community Medicine at UNSW Sydneysince 2011. During this time herprimaryfocus has beenon population approaches to theprevention and control of non-communicable diseasein the Asia-Pacific region, mainlycardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes mellitus and cancer. Christine wasco-investigator onan Australian GovernmentDepartment of Foreign Affairs and Trade funded (AUD $1.1 million) research project titled 'Investigating trends in non-communicable disease risk factors and premature mortality in Pacific Island Countries and how best to allocate funds for control' (2013-2016), and completed her PhD in 2017 ontrends in cardiovascular disease risk factors in Pacific Island populations (Fiji, Samoa, Wallis Island). Christine has also completed international consultancies analysing trends in mortality (neonatal, infant, child and adult), life expectancy, and strengthening registration of births and deaths in Pacific Island populations. Herwork involvesextensive in-country time throughout Melanesia, Micronesia, Polynesia and Southeast Asia; and in 2015/2016 Christine was based in New Caledonia working for the Secretariat of the Pacific Community.
