Research Interests:
The field of health promotion encompasses a wide range of strategies and sectors,with the social determinants of health providing a platform for analysis and action. Health promotion has an important role in fragile communities and societies: the health of a society is critical to its resilience; good health is required for communities and individuals to exercise their entitlements and rights. Innovative approaches (sports, the arts, respecting and integrating traditional practices to 'western approaches') to health promotion and in particular mental health promotion are of particular interest. Collaborative work with international colleagues is underway in a number of these areas.
