AGSM @ UNSW Business School has ranked 41st in the 2021 QS Global MBA Rankings, up one spot from last year. The result puts the AGSM Full-Time MBA in the top 16% of the 258 schools ranked.
AGSM ranked above the global average across all indicators: Employability, Diversity, Thought Leadership, ROI and Alumni Outcomes. AGSM performed particularly well in Diversity (24th globally) and Thought Leadership (25th globally) indicators placing in the top 10% globally.
Thought Leadership scores are calculated based on interviews with tens of thousands of academics from around the world each year. Each respondent is asked to nominate specific universities and business schools that they believe conduct cutting edge research.
"AGSM @ UNSW Business School offers innovative, experiential, world-class programs taught by internationally recognised academics and Executives-in-Residence from leading corporate and government organisations," said Professor Nick Wailes, Director AGSM and Deputy Dean, UNSW Business School.
“Students are immersed in active learning experiences and are exposed to practical skills and tools they can immediately apply to real-world business problems," he said.
"Having access to the research and thought leadership resources of one of Australia's leading universities contributes to our contemporary MBA curriculum. Today’s organisations – businesses, government, for-purpose, and start-ups – need leaders who are progressive, resilient, ethical, inclusive and collaborative with an adaptive mindset to effectively influence Australia’s innovation agenda."
Diversity scores are calculated by the percentage of female faculty and students, the percentage of international faculty and number of nationalities represented at the business school.
“AGSM has always attracted and celebrated diversity of gender, experience and thought,” said Dr Michele Roberts, Academic Director, AGSM.
“In the past two years, we have achieved gender parity in our Full-Time MBA program, one of only a handful of global MBA programs to achieve this. We also invest in creating a curriculum and culture that is supportive of diversity of experience and thought.
“We recruit a diverse cohort of highly motivated MBA candidates who are looking to enhance their career opportunities, move into a new industry, or start their own business,” Dr Roberts said. AGSM intentionally recruits a diverse, experienced cohort of highly motivated MBA candidates.
“This makes a huge difference to the overall experience, especially in online discussions. In a typical class you have experienced professionals with deep experience from across a diverse range of industries and functions. This really helps accelerate learning because students get multiple perspectives on the same issue,” she said.
AGSM received a total Employer Reputation score of 65.4. The survey asks employers from which schools they prefer to hire MBA and business school graduates. The survey response is very robust each year with employers across all sectors, types, and geographic regions taking part. These include leading business school hiring companies such as McKinsey, Google, Siemens, Airbus, and many more.
“An AGSM MBA prepares leaders to be adaptable and resilient with a growth mindset that equips them to see the world differently and adapt with a holistic view, rather than be transfixed by change,” said Professor Wailes.
“They are equipped to make better informed decisions, be more comfortable with a sense of purpose that fosters reinvention and cultivates a sense of belonging in organisations and communities,” he said.
