SOVS Paper of the Week: Researchers, Dr Jack Phu and Professor Michael Kalloniatis propose a systematic approach to seeding point error assessment for the new SITA Faster paradigm, helping clinicians improve the overall fidelity of the visual field test result.

Centre for Eye Health researchers Dr Jack Phu and Prof Michael Kalloniatis have shown in previously published research that the new SITA Faster testing paradigm is associated with elevated false positive rates and seeding point errors when compared with SITA standard.  Their latest paper proposes a systematic approach to seeding point error assessment.

Using this approach, this study showed that seeding point errors can be identified in the early phases of testing, alerting the perimetrist to repeat the test. The authors have also developed a flow chart for this approach, helping clinicians easily implement these findings into their everyday practice.
