Research & impact

Personalise
The human eye is an organ which reacts to light and pressure. As a sense organ, the mammalian eye allows vision. Human eyes help provide a three dimensional, moving image, normally coloured in daylight.

The School of Optometry & Vision Science is leading research in major areas of vision disease. From dry eye to sensory processes, our research solves vision problems that plague our community.

Our research and impact delivers advances in fundamental knowledge to detect, monitor and treat vision disorders to improve quality of life. This impact is evident in our clinical practice, our research groups and our capabilities.

Research excellence

The School of Optometry & Vision Science continually strives for research excellence. Our cohesive, multi-disciplinary approach to investigating vision and eye health improves lives and enhances society.

Research groups

Our research groups consist of academic staff with a wealth of international experience in research, training, and teaching. Our interests are diverse, from low vision, myopia and ocular pathology to vision loss and healthy ageing. Explore our research groups.
