SOVS Paper of the Week: Alteration of the pattern of regenerative corneal subbasal nerves after laser in-situ keratomileusis surgery
A new paper authored by Dr Cecilia Chao and colleagues from the SOVS ANT lab report on a new metric describing corneal nerve regeneration after LASIK refractive surgery, using in vivo confocal microscope imaging. Although the regenerating nerves follow the overall structural pattern of the corneal nerve plexus, there was more inconsistency in their orientation.
Dr Chao completed her PhD at SOVS with Scientia Professor Fiona Stapleton and Associate Professor Blanka Golebiowski and is now based at the University of Houston. This work was carried out in collaboration with the late Dr Edward Lum, whom we would like to thank for his contribution to the corneal nerve field.Â
