Priyanka Bose is a PhD candidate and an ex-student representative to the UNSW ADA research committee (2022-2023). An RTP and DET Waratah Scholarship support her research. Her research area concerns heritage language or first language maintenance in immigrant families, especially around how this maintenance is affected by the use of digital media with geographically dispersed relatives living in different countries. She has presented her research at the prestigious and highly competitive AAAL2023 conference in the US and several other national conferences. Priyanka has taught extensively in schools and English language institutes in Australia and Canada. Her teaching experience also encompasses working with students with refugee backgrounds at an Intensive English Centre and the Australian Migrants English Program. Priyanka has an educational background in Linguistics, Education, English, and Social Sciences from Australia, Canada, and India.
Awards and Scholarships
- 2021: Awarded a Waratah PhD Scholarship from the NSW Department of Education.
- 2020: Awarded an Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP) Scholarship for PhD Research.
