I am a classical pianist, piano tutor, and Scientia PhD Scholar at the University of New South Wales Australia (UNSW). My research focuses on music performance anxiety, investigating how musicians cope with this issue and how music educators can effectively support their students in this area. I have presented my research at conferences including the International Symposium of Performance Science in Warsaw, Poland, and the Women’s Music Festival in Padova, Italy. With a strong interest in the interface between research and practice, I have also presented my work to Ensemble Offspring’s Mondays @ The Church Series on Fear and the Music Teachers Association of New South Wales, and have contributed to undergraduate courses in music performance and the psychology of music at UNSW. Recently, I have helped Musica Viva Australia develop digital teaching resources on performance anxiety that will be distributed to classroom teachers nationally. Through my experience as a classical pianist and piano tutor, I am passionate about sharing my research with musicians and educators to help them navigate the complexities of performance anxiety and thrive in musical performance.
