James Humpherson
Bachelor of Economics/ Bachelor of Commerce
During a microfinance internship in the Philippines, James saw how the company empowered local communities to lift themselves out of poverty.
At high school, James had been fascinated with economics and business studies. He believed that if he had a deeper understanding of how the world works, he could contribute to solving some of the world's key challenges. This inspired James to learn more about the forces that shape our economy.
His experience at UNSW, doing courses in entrepreneurship and social impact, compelled him to explore opportunities in building businesses for good. Combining his international internship with a double bachelor's degree in Economics and Commerce developed strong analytical skills within a global mindset.
James now runs the first not-for-profit ticketing platform, Humanitix, which directs 100% of its profits from booking fees to helping disadvantaged children. It was the only charity named in the Westpac Top 20 Businesses of Tomorrow and counts Atlassian, Jobs for NSW and Google as some of its top supporters.
