GERRIC at UNSW is an authorityin Australia for professional educators looking to enhance their ability to help gifted students flourish in todays classroom.

GERRIC provides in-services and short professional learning courses to individual educators, schools or groups of schools.

GERRIC will help you to:

  • Identify gifted and talented students
  • Differentiate the curriculum for your high-ability students
  • Implement ability grouping or acceleration with your students
  • Understand gifted education best practices.

GERRIC at UNSW School of Education supports the NSW Department of Educations revised High Potential and Gifted Education Policy,operational in all NSW Schools since Term 1, 2021. Our research featuresin the Centre for Education Statistics and Evaluation (CESE) literature review, which accompanies the policy and provides a major support resource.

The policy identifies that a broader approach is needed to ensure all students who are gifted or have high potential maximise their learning outcomes. Our Mini-COGE contributes to one of the policys key actions to build teacher and leadership capacity through engagement with quality research and ongoing professional learning on effective practices.

Mini-COGE

GERRICs Mini-COGE provides useful and practical professional development to educators in supporting gifted and high potential students. Gifted and high potential students are not necessarily high achievers; in this course, we focus on how to engage and support these students to reach their high potential.
