  • Offerings in 2024:ÌýRegistration for Winter 2024 intake is now open and will close on Friday 9 August 2024. The online course materials is available upon registration. Optional in-person tutorial classes from Wednesday 14 August – Friday 28 August. Live online tutorial option may be available, depending on need and demand. More information will be posted on the Open Learning website closer the commencement of the tutorial class. It is recommended that students aim to complete as much of the online material as they can before the tutorial classes start. The timetable can be found here.

    The Mathematics Bridging Course aims to teach relevant topics of the HSC Mathematics Extension 1 subject, including:

    • Revision of algebra
    • Functions
    • Trigonometric identities and inverse trigonometric functions
    • Calculus
    • Induction
    • Combinatorics and Binomial Theorem
    • Further calculus, including integration leading to inverse trigonometric functions
    • Newton’s method
    • Application of calculus to the physical world

    Your performance in the Mathematics Bridging Course exam may mean you are properly prepared for entry directly into MATH1131: Mathematics 1A which is a compulsory course in all engineering, mathematics and many science-based degrees at UNSW.

    The Mathematics Bridging Course will run before Term 1 (February), Term 2 (May) and Term 3 (September) each year (approximately 1 month prior to the start of Term). For further information on enrolmentÌýplease go to this website.

  • Would increasing your knowledge of maths help you to get the most out of your uni course? Do you want to excel at university but don’t have the necessary HSC maths background?

    This program will be delivered in partnership with UNSW Sydney and covers the contents of the HSC 2 unit Mathematics course. It is suitable for students who want to improve their knowledge in mathematics or are having difficulty with mathematics in their first year of their chosen university course.

    Topics covered include Basic Algebra, Equations, Functions and Trigonometry, Log Functions and Limit, Rules for Differentiation, and Integration.
