Students in the BE ME programÌýareÌýrequired to complete 240 UOC towards program requirements,ÌýcomprisingÌýthe following:Ìý

  • 150 UOC Electrical Engineering CoreÌý

  • 54 UOC Discipline ElectivesÌý

  • 36 UOC Broadening ElectivesÌý

  • 60 Days approved Industrial TrainingÌý

Apart from the many professionalÌýengineering electives in the program taken at Level 3, Level 4 and LevelÌý5Ìýtowards Core and Discipline Elective requirements,Ìýthe BE ME program includes 36 UOCÌýofÌýa broadening disciplineÌýtaken within UNSW Engineering or from another FacultyÌý(minor, free electives). From this 36 UOC requirement, a minimumÌý24 UOC will be taken towards a broadening discipline (see below) and the remaining 0-12 UOC may be taken as free electives.Ìý

Students satisfy theÌýbroadeningÌýminor requirement of this program by completingÌý4-6 nominatedÌýcoursesÌýin the disciplines of Music, Language, Psychology, Mathematics, or PhysicsÌý(see note below),Ìýor by completing the requirements listed inÌýone of the following disciplines:Ìý

Industrial training

StudentsÌýin the BE ME (Electrical Engineering) must complete a minimum of 60 days approvedÌýindustrial training (WILÌýis a program requirement).ÌýThis requirement allows you to graduate with real on-the-jobÌýexperience andÌýcontributes to you meetingÌýEngineers AustraliaÌýexpectations for a graduate from an accredited degree.ÌýÌý

Further information on Industrial Training may be foundÌýhere.

Program plans for broadening disciplines

As a general rule, students mustÌýplanÌýto ensureÌýthey can complete all program requirements (core, discipline, broadening) within the minimum completion time and without conflicting class/term schedules.ÌýAs each broadening discipline is offered by varying Schools and/or Faculties, it should be assumed that some courses areÌýonly run once a term, so forward planning is required.ÌýÌý

Should you have any questions relating to yourÌýbroadening discipline selections and/or enrolment, please contact Engineering Student Support Services for assistance.Ìý
